THE STORY

Humanitarian Clowns Indian Chapter was officially created in September 2012 after Humanitarian Clowns Australian chapter and Seb's Projects India partnered up together to create the first ever International Social Clowning Trip in India consisting of more than 20 International Clowns including volunteers from our hosting Country India.

Across India thousands of people are stigmatised and abandoned as a result of disability and illness. Humanitarian Clowns reach out to these 'forgotten' people in leprosy homes, palliative care centres and homes for the mentally challenged to provide love, understanding, stimulation and the realisation that someone really does care for them, so after the International volunteers departed India, Seb's Projects India decided to continue with the program creating "Humanitarian Clowns India Chapter" as an on going project.

Early 2013 Tim Webster (founder of Humanitarian Clowns) came back to India and ran a training package for all our volunteers to inspire us to continue the work we love to do, "Make others Happy". Since Tim's departure Humanitarian Clowns Indian Chapter have recruited more volunteers from Vellore Instatute of Technology (VIT) and continue to clown on a weekly basis with over 10 local Social Service Organisations within Vellore district of Tamil Nadu. Since we have continued to support this program we are getting demands from other districts in Tamil Nadu to start Clowning there, most recently we had a day of Clowning in Tanjore.
